Default My little SQ set up...Pics added

Denon DCT1000R Deck. Deadhead, no frills/processing, but the best damn DAC I have run in a vehicle.

I have some home brewed RCA's running to a Audio Control DQX for my crossover/EQ . From there the Sub (70Hz and lower) feeds to a Zuki Mono, the mids (70-2.5kHz) feed a Zuki Eleets bridged 4 channel, and the tweets are running (from 3.1 kHz and up) to another Zuki Eleets.

My Sub is a Mag 12 (last gen) in 1.25 sealed and lightly stuffed in a FG enclosure between the seats. The mids and tweets are a Seas Lotus Reference set. The 6.5's are in the factory door location and the tweets are up in the a-pillars. I just picked up a pair of Hertz Mille ribbons and a pair of 4.5" Lotus to try out a 3-way setup and will be experimenting with them mounted in the kicks. I am out for the next couple weekends due to a medical issue, but as soon as I can use my left arm again, I will get cracking on the mids and posting up some pics BTW the vehicle is a 2004 GMC Std Cab Sierra (193,000 miles and I bought it new at the end of the model year )

Niiice setup. I've always wanted to try out a pair of Seas Lotus Reference components.

And holy crap! 193k miles already?!

My 3 year old car just hit 27,000 miles, lol! I couldn't imagine with the price of gas going through that many miles. Must be your work truck, or else you are rich!

Nice setup!

Is that deck like 10 years old? I hope you will enjoy it, as you got all the other great gear to back it up. IMO though, the DAC was good for the date of release back in the day, but with new technologies developing quickly, chances are the new DAC's used in top of the line Pioneer, Alpine, etc are even better. Think about it. Engineers had lotsa time for improvements in that area over the years. Nowadays, better stuff could be had for cheaper due to technological advances.

If you are running sub/s, then it is great you are getting an external processor to time align the bass and stuff, and that Audio Control will come in handy. I have heard cars with elite head units before, and sound quality is great, but if you don't have a processor, then the music is not dead on, but all over the place. Car environment is just not that good for music, and you need all the processing to make it sound better.

Anyway, thats what I think about older high end head unit DAC's. I would rather have a new high end deck, than older Naks, Denons, etc just for that reason. But to each their own, and you also get bragging rights for prestigious equipment I love your gear line up, and it seems you surely know your stuff, and made great choices.

Yep, it is an oldie (good eye ) I replaced an Eclipse 8455 that I have been running since the day they were released and am much happier with the Denon DAC.....this is hands down one of the cleanest sounding setups I've run. I want to give Pioneer a whirl down the road, but also have a brand new Denford sitting here. The Audison Bit 1 is on my must get list when it hits the market. I promise to get some pics up in the very near future, but am under strict orders not to be moving very much ATM. I found I have a blood clot in my radial artery (the ones in the veins are the ones that will kill you) and have my Dr's stumped at this point as to how it got there. I have been in and out for testing the last week and a half and have some scheduled for today.......but again....pics are a comin'. I just received in the mail a pair of Hertz Mille Ribbon (500R's) and a pair of 4" Lotus to try out for the midrange position in the kicks, but can't fab up the kicks till I get my arm figured out

I haven't built this one for bragging rights by any means.....I live in my truck practically and need my tunes to keep me motor vated as I am heading down the highway.

I am a field service engineer in the medical field and cover 6 states (Montana, WY, CO, NM, western NB and KS, and I got Salt Lake put on my plate a few months back) and yes at $80.00+ per tank, I blow through some serious cash every week just keeping it going. I am anxiously awaiting the Sierra Hybrid due out in a few more months.

I know what you mean about the Eclipse. I had two. Last one was 8445, and it replaced Alpine 7995. Boy, what a downgrade. And the Alpine was couple of years older. I could not make the Eclipse sound good. Worst part - the mids were missing, and I could not get them going. Not sure why. Went back to Alpine 9887, and now my mids are moving again. A lot of people seem to love Eclipse, but it also kept having software problems. Never again!

Man, hope things will turn around for you. Will put you on the prayer list.

Thank you Hobie, me thinks it working. I don't have to go thru surgery, but I do have a couple more tests to deal with as I have them stumped on where it came from and if there is any danger of anymore showing up.

On a positive note....got a new 08 x-tended cab GMC yesterday since they are "giving" them away, have to pull everything out of the old truck this morning then it is off to the drawing board to come up with a plan for the new one. Keeping everything I have....just have room for multiple Mags now

This thread is as useless as I am without pics:

The truck:

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Room for a double din

[IMG][/IMG]

6.5's in the doors

[IMG][/IMG]

Tweets up in the pillars

[IMG][/IMG]

And lots of real estate out back compared to the std cab I traded in

[IMG][/IMG]

The Chit goin' in:

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Seas Lotus 6.5's, 4's, and the RF27's

[IMG][/IMG]

And of course....the Mag

[IMG][/IMG]

Now those with sharp eyes may have noticed a Hertz box in the pic's, and here is my "dilemma"......4" Lotus or the ribbons?

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I am still out with a bum arm and have to order all the deadening and goodies to get it all put together....but will keep this thread updated as I progress.
