Default Mag v3 xmax?

What's the maximum excursion on one of these? Building a grill into my box and wanna know how far to space it from the sub

Xmax is listed at 26mm IIRC, but peak throw depends on the size. The 12's can move 2.6" total and the 15's can move 3" total.

Am I right in assuming that leaving a gap of 1.5" from the top of the basket will be fine?

From the top of the surround, yes. Not from the top of the basket.
