Default Difference in previous gen mags?

Hi all. I have a v2 claw mag as well as a v3 mag that are in need of recones.

What are the differences between the two?

I want to continue with my single 12" 2.0cu ft @ 34hz enclosure and not really sure which one I want to run for daily. (Liked both of them)

Given ideal recone parts, which would have better low end performance, be more efficient, be louder? (only have 1000-1200 watts to throw at it).

The v3 Mag will play lower and play louder. It will also sound better.

There are no v2 claw's. All claw baskets were v1's. The v2's had the 12 spoke basket on the old motor.

The enclosure you have on hand is good for all previous Mag's though, so you should be good to go.

The v1 is a TC9 motor right? What motor is on the v3?

Right, the v1 and v2 Mag's all used a TC9-based motor. The v3 Mag's used a (at the time) new Destijl motor.

What other subs use the Destijl motor? Now that the new Mag and BM uses XBL^2, someone has to using such an awesome motor for their subs.

The motor is only 70% of the battle. The Mag v3's can be produced again without any problems. If we did that, we could shrink the mounting depth a tad too.

I know you building another "v3" type Mag is not a priority, or may never ever be reality, but let's say you do decide to reproduce them. Will you use XBL tech or Destijl tech to acheive less mounting depth?

Also, was the previous v4 Proto with the three slugs a Destijl motor?

Not that it matters because I'm winning that free Mag. (I'm not allowed to post in that thread for some reason)

Oh, that big monster triple slug bastard was not a Destijl motor. That was another build house overseas.

If the v3's get re-done they will not use XBL^2, as it wouldn't be the same. It would actually be cleaner if we kept the same Xmax but used XBL^2, which means it would sound different. Making a normal overhung Mag v3 could be very neat with the resources we have available to us today. We could probably offer them for under $200 / ea. However, at this time a driver like the Mag v3 isn't in our projected goals. If there was enough interest in them, however, we could do a limited production run of them. I could also narrow down a price and you guys (the customer) could determine if you wanted any different colors of baskets...although I think the normal silver would be just fine.

Oh, I almost forgot - the mounting depth could be shrunk by using a smaller backplate. It wouldn't be much of a reduction, but it would still be shallower none-the-less.
