Default 15D2 in HT?

I have a 15D2 (all black cone, no logo, inverted dustcap) in my Explorer now, in 3.8 cubes tuned to 30 hz. My dad wants to build a HT in his house, and I just thought maybe I would give him my 15 and order two new 12" Mags if that happened. But my questions is.......I know 30 hz is wicked high for use in-home, but is the size of box also too small? I figure I may be able to just add a little bit onto the slot port and get it down to a little better 25 hz without taking up too much more box volume. It may dip to 3.5 cubes or something. Would that be too little volume? And secondly, if it would be, would that be too much to just seal the port and have the box be sealed? I think it would be about 4.5 cubes in that case after adding port volume. I can obviously always build another box, just wondering if this could work or not.

That box will do really well (it's actually a bit too big for that driver ported for car audio as it sits) in a home theater application. Just do you what you suggested and add length to the port to tune it to around 25 Hz and you'll be good to go!

sweeeeeet.

I didn't know it was too big for car use, though, haha. I thought 4-4.5 cubes was recommended so I was actually too small. I guess I was mistaken this whole time!

Actually, I take that back...it wasn't too big, it just could have been smaller. That model of Mag (v2) did require a larger box than the v3's did.
