I was reluctant to share these with you, as the driver is not finished. However, I want to know what you all have to say about the release of the BM mkIII.

The BM mkIII can be released as-is quite quickly with the Lexus Pearl White finish in the pictures below. However, fixing the cosmetic issues will take at least another couple of months. The cosmetic issues are the lack of etching on the back plate (our logo and the model will be etched on the backplate), and the "ring" on the diaphragm will be taken care of. However, if we were to rush production, the driver would look exactly as it looks in the following pictures:

Ignore the fingerprints on the diaphragm. It happens when a driver is assembled without being cleaned for shipment.

I would say wait the couple of months, but bear in mind that I will likely not be making a purchase the moment these are available either. That said, I kind of like the white finish over the candy red you had before, but the ring would annoy me.

Other points to note: there will be several fans of SI that will say go for it in its current form because they want the driver for its sound and realize they're dealing with someone who values quality and thus trust you. Then there will be next wave of people that order based on word of mouth and reviews and they will likely be more influenced by the finished look of the driver, inferring build quality and attention to detail from its appearance, so perhaps two waves of shipments might work more to your advantage?

I'd love to see the BM released asap, however I think you should wait until the cosmetics are finished. I don't see a problem with an "enthusiast" batch - especially as I wanna hear people's impressions, I'll put up my cash when it's looks match the sound

Yeah, I've thought of the latter. I want to wait until the physical aspects are taken care of, but if the people wanted the driver as-is, I'll make a run of them if there is enough interest.

I say build like it is ! You could paint the Damn thing purple & people will buy it, color doesn't make sound any better. White is nice & it matches my truck. Put me down for one. -Ken

For those of us that have been waiting for this thing for over a year now, I say build it like it is, or at least enough to satisfy those of us who really want one now.

Some of us, especially with pickups, have very limited options when it comes to a quality sub setup. Most subs that will fit either don't play well in small airspace or just don't play the sub-bass -40 hz~ish and below- with any authority, from all the ones I've heard.

A 2-3-4 month wait for just a couple cosmetic upgrades, IMO, isn't worth it for those of us who have been waiting forever, because this sub is practically more of a need than just a want for another option. Basically, there are no shallows that should compare to this.

i am torn, on one hand i want one now(going in an extended cab truck) to go with other upgrades i have going in soon. but on the other hand a couple of months would not kill me. though i did like the red better, don't like the white as much.

I agree. With 14mm of one-way linear excursion and a price tag well under $300, there's not much that will compete with it. And for that matter, there's not much that will compete with it for under the $500 price tag.

With the cosmetic upgrades, will the price still be under $300? If yes, then I'm sure people will be more than happy to wait for it and have "THE" perfect sub

I thought the target price was $150?
White is fine. Doesn't matter to me cause won't be seeing it once its in the box anyway. But the ring definitely needs fixing. Anyway, go ahead, make it perfect.

Since there's a seizure in Mag 4 productions, am I to assume the BM will be a limited edition thing too (as in only 1 batch)?
