Honestly, tell me your going to build them, give me a cost and I'll send you some money to get on the list.

I want this sub that much.
i thought this sub was a top mount? meaning the back is on the outside of the enclosure? and my opinion would be to go with black or charcoal gray as the color.

I wasn't aware that it mattered on the mounting, but I do agree with your color choices. I've always liked a sleek black finish.

By the way, I don't think that's what top mounting means. I think you're referring to inverted mounting. I'm pretty sure top mounting is when you have the sub lip resting on the box wall rather than something like flush mounting, where you dig a groove into the wood and make the driver sit flush with the wall, or bottom mounting, where you actually have the driver sitting behind the wall face.

Practically all subs are top or flush mounted because usually the sub boxes are sealed pretty tightly so you wouldn't be able to easily swap or remove a sub if it was bottom mounted. You'll see bottom mounts in rear speaker decks mainly. I think what you're thinking of is an inverted sub, and again I'm not sure that that matters here.

*Disclaimer - this could all be incorrect information.

I'm dying here. Ok so I'm currently running 2 BM12's in a sealed enclosure. How much wood am I going to get by switching over to this new version? ARGG! This will be so awesome to take half my space back when I upgrade!

You're going to SAVE a lot of wood by switching over to the new version but you're going to lose a lot of SPL. Ported older BM's are going to be MUCH louder than the new neo sealed-only shallow versions. However, since you're running your drivers sealed, the SPL will be similar but the distortion will be a LOT less, which is / can be mis-interpreted as not as loud. Distortion = perceived loudness, so we can't help you in that department. The new neo BM's do provide great output and sound quality not currently offered by shallow subwoofers though.

I just found out about these speakers and this website put me down for 1 once you finalize them. Hey I noticed you said you had a civic what kind and size enclosure would one of these need?

Thanks
Chris

New design is sealed only? Well that's disappointing.

I was hoping to use one of these subs ported. Looks like I'd have to do two sealed, but I'm currently running a pair of eD SQ10's sealed and am not happy with their low end output at all. They are currently underpowered, getting only 125watts apiece, but I'm still not sure if it'll be worth upgrading to the BM's, building a new enclosure, and getting my 550w Blade Grenade G5 amp fixed (probably around $900 altogether) if I won't be able to use a ported enclosure.

For my install, the sub is there to complement the SLS 8's in the doors of a '93F150 single cab pickup, so I really only need low end extension from 50hz on down. Is 550w bridged to a pair of sealed BM's going to offer that much improvement over the SQ10's?

I guess what I should do is get my amp fixed and see how the SQ10's do when they're properly powered, and reevaluate. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the SQ10's are just underpowered, but something tells me I'll be back.

So just to make sure I didn't misunderstand -- the new BM will not perform admirably in any ported enclosure?
