Dang, about how long did you hear the "clapping" noise for before you turned it down? I had it happen a couple of times for maybe 1 or 2 slaps at most.

First I thought it was pretty cool that there was pretty much no audible warning till it bottomed out but dang, this is gonna make me be a little bit more cautious now for the future.

Sucks ya didn't get to have some good listening time to it though, its really a very nicely sounding woofer.

In 1.2 ft^3 after driver displacement your power handling was lower than 1000 watts (more like 800'ish). We recommend 1 ft^3 exactly for a reason.
wiat so saying his box was to big this could have contibuted to his sub blowing up? and how much room should there be behind the sub? i belive my 2 box are like 0.9 cubic if not a little bigger and i am using 2 strappped sundown 1000 amps? i will have to doulbe check my drawnings but i believe i have like .250" clearance behind the sub from the back of the box? lol man i may end up making new box's if this doesn't work out!

Don't freak out guys. He blew his driver due to too much power - period. We have bottomed out Mag v4's multiple times and they are still kicking. As long as you have enough room inside the enclosure (1 ft^3 as we recommend), and you're running up to 1000 watts (nothing more), you'll be fine. As previously stated everywhere on this forum, the new Mag v4 does not need 1000 watts.

Like I said, I gave a b stock Mag hell with a Sundown SAE-1000D, does about 1200 watts or so, free air, there was almost no time where the driver wasn't bottoming out and all I could do was warm it up, and that was over 10 minutes at full throttle, this guy had to be giving this sub way too much power for a good 30 minutes or more.

Too much power + Box too large (for that power) + maybe clipping the amp

... So you hear the voice coil tapping the backplate and you wonder why it broke?

Why did you feel the need to make the box 125% of recommended size and give the sub 130% of rated power?

I hope I won't blow my Mag's with my custom build box. It's the first time I ever build an enclosure. LOL.

And I will be giving the 3 Mag's 2400W RMS in total (800W RMS each).

Box is 96.1 Liters (3.39 cu.ft) this is before driver displacement and the 2 braces inside the box.

You should be fine, you may be slightly over on the size, but you will be giving them 800 watts each, which will compensate for that.
