Default Mag output more than IDQv3?

I currently am running an IDQ12v3 and am extremely happy with it from an SQ standpoint. It is dead-on accurate, has great attack/decay characteristics, and blends seamlessly with the front stage in my pickup.

However, I want a little more "punchiness" and output from my sub, and I have tried several different enclosures with different alignments, all sealed, and have yet to find what I am looking for.

I have 600wrms available @4 ohm, and am sending a bit over 300wrms to my front stage. As of right now, to get the output I want from my sub at high volume, it ends up distorting the sub somewhat pushing it that hard.

A good friend of mine runs an FI SSd and I want the punchiness it has with the SQ my IDQ has. My main concern looking at the specs of the Mag is that I won't pick up much, if any output. Could any of you experts chime in on why I maybe ought to look at this option for my next sub?

BTW I dont have room to attempt ported applications. If I did, I am sure I would be more than happy with my IDQ.

obviously i've never heard the new mag... but given its basic specs i'd guesstimate it to be closer in output to an idmax than an idq.

Well, it's good that you want to stay sealed as these new drivers aren't the performers they once were in vented enclosures. Obviously with the IDQ, you are running into the mechanical limits at your power level. I can guarantee you, at that level, the MAg will still be singing along with zero issues. As for it's output, well, in the sealed tests I did, it was more efficient than any of the previous drivers, so I don't see output being an issue with this one in comparison. Also, it won't have the mechanical issues at the power level you are trying to run the IDQ either.

Just wanted to know how can you determine how loud a speaker gets from the specs. Not being a smartaxx here, just trying to learn...

Thanks,
Kelvin

It's not possible. You can get an idea of displacement potential and efficiency in a given application, but that is about it.
