Default MAG V4 Excursion?

I believe this is the excursion of the subwoofer that im talking about.

When the sub is pushed all the way out this is called excursion correct?

I did a search before posting and I found "First Post" and another thread but you had excursion on like graphs from the computer which is why im thinking it could mean something else.

To get to my question, I am downfiring these in my truck, how much clearance should I give the subs so the dont hit the floor? I think initially I had them about 1 inch, will I be fine?

In "First Post" you put something on there about:

What is critical to note about low frequency reproduction in a car audio environment are these items:

Box being used
Power being used
Size of woofer being used (Sd)
And the overall goal

The box will determine a lot of your excursion requirements. In a small sealed enclosure, it's not un-common to only require 40-45mm of total throw with a full 1000 watts of input at 20 Hz.

So would I need closer to 2 inches of clearence?

This install is getting more and more difficult!

The 40-45mm I was talking about was in reference to total cone travel, not just one way travel. If you only have 1" in front of the sub (there's ~1" in front of the baffle / mounting surface worth of gasket and surround on the new Mag), you should be fine. However, if you can allow 1.5" or more, that would be much more beneficial to the performance of the subwoofer.

Ok just to make sure were both on the same base here.

When the sub is at rest, I would need an additional 1.5 inches from the end of the surround?

Or

From where I would screw the sub to the box I need 1.5 inches minimum?

Yes, that is correct.

But like I said, you can go as close as 1", but that's pushing it.
