Default Got me a mag...REVIEW!

First some pics of my stealth install in my 2007 Scion TC....

My mag is set into the spare tire well of my TC, the box is exactly 1.134 cubic feet (after sub displacement) and we stuffed that sucker with some polyfill. It doesn't have a huge amp pushing it, I am using 2 Sundown Audio 100.2's, one for the front stage and one for the sub stage. The Mag still sounds phenominal even though I'm not pushing the limit on power, it's accuracy is incredible. Over the past 2 months I've had 3 different subs in my car and I'm definitely sticking with the Mag It sounds excellent no matter what you throw at it, I listen to a lot of rock, some rap, country, you name it!

I can't wait to make it to the next SQ competition and see what the other street class cars have for my MAG. It pairs perfectly with my Boston components up front.

Oh here's a pic of the install before we wrapped it in carpet and hinged the front....

and finally a view from inside the car...amps are accessible because of the previously mentioned hinged top plate...

The only problem is that once enough people hear this mag they will all have one or two or three and then they have a chance at their car sounding as good as mine!

A video of his Mag won't do a whole lot b/c it's covered by carpet. Besides that, the new Mag's are very efficient and don't move a lot to produce a lot of output.

Oh, one of the other cool things about his install is the acces panel to the 30 band EQ. If you look close you can see an oval shape on the right hand side of the trunk floor. That's the access pannel. Very sweet.

We spent about 45 minutes tuning his front stage a little bit last night and it sounds a LOT better now.

Yeah a video is no good, you see nothing but carpet!
We designed the install that way, so that it looks OEM but whoops everyone's butt in SQ. It kind of sucks that you can't see the sub, but when you sit in my car you know its somewhere inside... LOL.

I can testify that before it was covered the mag did not move much at all, that's because it is extremely efficient. A great deal of excursion is not always a good thing. Subs that move a lot sound like big wet farts when they play music IMO. Mostly because a lot of movement is wasted energy, subs that move a tremendous amount aren't accurate because they weren't built to be accurate. They were probably built to go BOOM and put up big SPL numbers.

Again, my advice is GET A MAG. I've had three setups in my car in the past few months, I had two SA 8's, a Memphis 12, even a DD 8 in a ported enclosure! After all that the reason my install is DONE and the carpet is laid is because it isn't going anywhere. If anything I might get some different amps, that's why we hinged the back. But the sub is covered and I'm not taking it out. It sounds too good!

very nice install for sure. I haven't gotten a good look at mine playing since they are downfiring now but from holding my hand near the surround they sure were moving on some songs last night.

X2 on the mag sounding good with anything playing. Anyone know the song Duality by Slipknot, its basically death for any sub or at least impossible to listen to with a substage, but with the mag it was actually bearable, not quite enjoyable lol but certainly better than any other system I have heard the song on.

That car must sound great, love these sort of builds with total stealth and full use of the car. Now to give Jake a call for a 100.4 and 1200D or a 1500D to keep the amps matching.

PS: Travis also has full TaraLabs wiring (including speaker wire). I'll be nabbing some of the same RCA's he has for my install.
