Thumbs up SERIOUSLY considering this.....

hi all......

this has come up FS in the UK.... its very rare to see any Mags coming up for sale (especially in the UK)

this is going for £300 = $487

2x 15'' v3 SI Mags

ported fibreglass box, tuned to 33hz, approx 7cuft

its a thing of beauty!!

now its far too big for my car but im thinking about getting it for my music / PC room..... how will these sound indoors..??

& i can run both of these together to show an 8ohm load, cant i...???

They are dual 2 Ohm drivers, so you can have twin 4 Ohm loads if you want. I would not series the woofers though, as one driver will always get more power than the other if you do that. Wiring voice coils in series is no problem at all, but wiring woofers in series is a no-no if you can help it.

But other than that, the drivers do exceptionally well in a HT application. In the right enclosure they can even play down below 20 Hz with a LOT of authority.

right.... so 2x 4ohm connections rather than a single 8ohm to amp

im off to measure the space i have free!!!

thanks....

sorry nick.... another quick question

the v3 15'' mag has an ''FS'' of 22hz (earth shattering BTW), is this only relevant in ''free air'' application..??, what i mean is..does the box tuning determine the final frequency or does the subs natural ''FS'' play a part..

cheers...

Both. The F3 of the system can be manipulated depending on the type of enclosure used. You can us a reverse hypex horn to get an F3 of 27 Hz out of a driver with an Fs of 50 Hz. On the flip side, a sealed enclosure's F3 will be more heavily dependent on Fs, Vas, Qt/Qe, and enclosure volume used. In a vented enclosure the major things to look at are Fs, Vas, Qt/Qe, and tuning frequency desired. You will need to adjust your enclosure volume to achieve a workable port length as per the port surface area you are using and to also achieve the desired frequency response or F3.

Basically Fs is a good thing to look at in IB alignments. Fs also plays a significant role in sealed box alignments. However, you can do a LOT with a vented enclosure to tailor the F3 of the system to your liking, but you also have to have a driver that is adequate for your application.
