Just wondering if you are the Marty listed as an email address on the main site and if you are Nick's brother or something.

Yep, the old man. I got Nick turned onto High End Audio years ago...had him listen to 143,000 dollar Wilson Grand Slamm speakers, etc. Next thing I know he designs his own speakers.....cool stuff.

I turned myself on to this stuff back in like 4th or 5th grade. I have to ask though, were they your Grand Slamm speakers? lol

No, I took him to one of the worlds best stereo shops located in Columbus Ohio across the campus from OSU. Name escapes me in my old age.

Progressive Audio was the name of the store. It was that same store that I sat there and called Focal's top-end 15" granite-covered end table subwoofer boomy and lacking in fidelity. You should have seen the look on the salesman's face! I also thought the Avalon Eidelon (sp?) speakers sounded better than the Grand Slam's. The Avalon's are still my #1 speaker of all time.

The only reason they cost that much is so the jackass who buys them can say, "I spent $143K on my speakers."

Can't tell you how many houses I've been in with setups like these, and they never even get used.

Yea, the sad thing is that for how expensive they are there are a fair amount of people who do not like how they sound. Fuck, I'll spend ~$25,000 on B&W 800Ds or the Revel Salon2 and have something that probably sounds better.

Avalon Eidelon are the best speakers I think I've heard yet in the 34 years I've been into audio....would love to go to the Acoustic Sounds showroom in Salina, Kansas where they have a magnificent dedicated room built with no expense spared to show off the top of the line Avalon Sentinel speakers. Other than having not quite enough bottom(we could fix that in a hurry..LOL), they just sound like the musicians are in the room.

for those who want to check them out further.

This is the top of the line Avalon

Sensitivity: 88 dB
Impedance: 4 ohms nominal (3.6 ohms minimum)
Frequency Response: 16 Hz to 100 KHz (+/- 1 dB anechoic)
Recommended Power: 100 to 1000 watts
Dimensions: 69"H x 17"W x 37"D
Weight: 910 lbs.
Crated System Weight: 1150 lbs.
