Is there any sound deadening products that are good but yet not as expesive as dynamat? Im currently using ed's edead and they seem to be ok but doesnt really stick too well. I heard of raamat and fatmat but not sure if they are going to be much better. Im new to this forum. I only signed up so I can learn more about the mags and bms and replace my jl 10w7 with either one mag or two bms. But since IM here I thought I might as well ask about sound deadening. Thanks

One that I don't see on your list would be Second Skin products, such as Damplifier and Damplifier Pro. Sound Deadening Materials for Noise Reduction from Second Skin also the speaker tweaker kit may be something to look at as well.

Time for Nick to put in a plug for his connection to the damping material you should consider.

Now here's the plug.
I highly recommend Second Skin products. Our Civic has a plethora of SS products in it ranging from the standard deadener to the foam-like deadener, to speaker tweakers, and it's currently awaiting a coat of sludge on the firewall and underbody as soon as I can find a lift. Anyway, I've used Peel and Seal, Raamat, Dynamat, etc, and nothing has been near the value of the SS products. I've probably spent 4x the cost over time using other products that I could have saved by using SS products from the begining. Hind sight is 20/20. The beauty behind the internet is that all of you can learn from my mistakes.

Just for clarification:
The Peel and Seal I used started peeling up / not sticking at all after 2 months of being installed. It's OK to use on the floor, but it still doesn't stick too well. Its only saving grace on the floor is that it's perfectly horizontal and held down by the carpet. The Peel and Seal I used on the doors got the aluminum tape treatment after I saw it was coming up. But even then, about 3 months later, the pieces started coming up in the middle of the taped area. Peel and Seal = not good for car audio. The RAAMAT I used was the thicker (at the time) version. This worked a LOT better than Peel and Seal. On verticle surfaces it stuck really well. The only complaint I had about it is that after 6 months is started to ooze out the bottom. Everywhere verticle had a black puddle at the bottom. It still stuck, but there was still a small black puddle. The Civic has been Second Skin equipped for over 2 years now without a single complaint. Albeit, it's the most deadened car I've ever touched but it still has zero issues with the deadening. It's worth its weight in gold to deaden only once.

I'll have to disagree with you here. I have noticed ZERO difference between Raam and SS, and I've saved a ton of money going with Raam.
Did two vehicles front to back and top to bottom with SS, then found Rick and switched and have been using him ever since. Rick doesn't offer the spray-on/brush-on product, but IMO, those aren't needed. |

See right now I am trying to decide between RAAM MAt and Second Skin. I definently save a ton on RAAM MAt but if it is less effective than Damplifier then I would reconsider. Im looking at sving roughly 150 if I go Raam Mat. What about performance nick, did 1 outperform the other (with similiar installs)?
