Thank you for the reply. I purchased the sub online from an outfit in Texas about 2 yrs ago and had it in a 3.0cf sealed enclosure. I love this sub and it sounds incredible powered by a JL 1000/1 in my 06 Magnum. My car was flooded and all my audio equipment has been removed un damaged. I will be getting a new vehicle and will be looking at the new Mags down the road for smaller enclosure options.

I would like to incorporate the Mag into my HT set up to not only utelize the speaker but to even out the LFE in my listening room. Two subs is always better than one IMO. The Axiom sub sounds good and I'm sure the Mag will help fill any voids(or vice versa) when level matched with the other sub. I am much more concerned about the music listening quality than the HT effect. If you feel the Mag will shine in a 3.5cf ported enclosure then I on it. Question is...do you think the ED LT/1300 plate amp will be a good source of power for the sub and enclosure or would the LT/500 be better suited. I don't really have the room for a rack amp.

What would your honest opinion be on the performance of the Mag in the Parts Express Dayton 3cf sealed box from the link I added? This would be the easiest route for me. I would need to obtain plans for a 3.5cf ported box and I am not a highly skilled woodworker. Not to mention adding black vinyl to the enclosure could be a pita. I do have the some experience and the tools but no necessarily the time right now. Thanks

You can use a sealed enclosure, but a ported enclosure will perform much better. If you do go sealed, the 3 ft^3 sealed enclosure is a good enclosure volume. As far as power goes, put as much power on it as possible.

I wouldn't run two different subwoofers because you'll end up with two different sounding subwoofers playing at the same time. You'll also have two different F3's, so one sub will loose output while the other sub is still playing. Think of it as having a Dynaudio right channel speaker and a Focal left channel speaker.

Hello Electrodynamic,
After some thought I have decided to do right by my 15" MagD2V2 and build a ported 3.5cf enclosure and tune it to 30Hz as you recommend. A friend with many years of enclosure design and construction will be assisting me with mapping it all out. Do you recommend a vented box? Or a ported box using pvc as the port? Also, would you be kind enough to share port dimensions for the recommended port or vent. Aside that, I am ready to build! I'm confident the Mag will make an awesome HT sub once a stout enclosure is constructed. Any other tips or box dimension recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

PS what does the ^3 mean when you recommend a box at 3.5cf^3?

It doesn't matter whether you do a slot port or round ports. As long as you can fit the port length. Slot ports are easier to make when the port length gets fairly long. Make sure you do not go below 25 in^2 for your port(s) surface area. When I put in^2 I mean inches squared and when I put ft^3 I mean cubic feet (feet cubed).

Hey Nick,
Got the plans worked out for the enclosure and ready to build. What is the driver displacement value for the 15" Mag D2V2? Thank you.

From memory it's 0.15 ft^3.
