Default Which amp for 2 BM MKIII's

I am currently running a jl 500/1 to a center console jl 8w7 in my 2008 Ford CC Super Duty. I have pre ordered 2 BM MKIII's to replace the 8w7 and have a box being made by Michael Hughes at SPL2K. I plan on using the 500/1 to run the new 12's but will probably upgrade. My new amp would be a jl HD750/1 or the 1000/1 since I am pretty happy with their amps. In your opinion would it be safe to use the 1000/1 which is 50 watts higher rms per sub or use a HD750/1? Thanks, James

you'll be fine with the 1000/1 - just don't send a clipped signal to the subs

I keep seeing Sundown Audio. There is no comparison with JL as far as price. Sundown is a lot cheaper. Are people having good luck with these amps? How hot do they get running 1 ohm. What do you think about a SAZ-1000D wired to the 2 MKIII's in a 1 ohm load

Sundown amps are what I have personally run for over four years now. The 1000D is a little more powerful than the 1000/1 from a real-wolrd RMS output standoint and also from a dynamic / headroom stanpoint. The extra dynamic capability comes from an un-regulated power supply vs the regulated power supply of the JL. The 1000D is designed to operate at 1 Ohm, so it will work perfectly at 1 Ohm on a pair of BM's.

Sundown has excellent sound quality too.

Sorry to thread hijack.... but I have the same question.... I preordered 2 of the BM's and I just picked up a Zapco DC750.2.... Will this amp work well for the 2 BM's or did I waste my $$??????

Thanks - J

Nope, you didn't waste your time. That amp will be a perfect match for a pair of BM mkIII's.
