Exclamation Question regarding Speaker Tweaker Kit & SI Mag v4.

Will the SecondSkin Audio Speaker Tweaker Kits work if I placed one behind each subwoofer in my enclosure?

Or should I leave the enclosure as it is (e.g. Speaker Tweaker Kit doesn't improve a thing with subwoofers).

Please advice.

Thanks!

Don't bother. You would need 4-5 of them, and even then...there are no vocals that come through the subwoofer, so it's kinda pointless. Polyfill and/or fiberglass insulation are your best utilities for improving subwoofer performance.

Okay! Thanks for the quick answer. Saves me about 100 USD (incl. shipping). Nick the master!

I finally finished building my enclosure. Looks friggin' nice (for the 1st time I have build a box).

Will post pictures later on. Still need to paint it though. Hehe.

Maybe I should get 3 pieces of this instead?
On several Dutch forums they say it works pretty good. But I dunno what your opinion is on them.

I will be using it only for the inside-rear part (3 pieces; behind each subwoofer 1).

//Edit

Or should I do all the sides in the enclosure? My enclosure is about 84 liters including 4.5 liters for bracing or 2.97 cu.ft.

I will be powering each of the 3 Mags with 800W RMS approx.

As Nick mentioned I don't really think you need any of that kind of stuff with a sub box. As long as its built well and no air leaks should be fine. I asked the owner of second skin the same question you asked and he said it would not make much difference in a sub enclosure and really would not be worth it.

I would maybe use the foam, but that's about it. You'd have similar results lining the back wall with fiberglass insulation. I can't stand fiberglass because it's messy and I always end up itching afterwards, so I'd use the foam. But like I said, these kind of treatments are largely beneficial behind midwoofers (midbass and midrange), but not that beneficial to subwoofers in small sealed boxes.

Okay... Thanks for the information (both).
I won't use the stuff than.

And I don't want to use polyfill, cause I have to turn the enclosure quite a bit to fit it in my trunk and I don't want to damage the subs.

Oh and I will take some pictures tomorrow from the sub's enclosusre. Hopefully the enclosure is well build (since it's the first one I ever have build).

Michel,

You won't damage the subs by using polyfil. Polyfil stays put pretty well and it won't damage the subs. I would use it if you're really tight on air space.
