Good! I went through all the bs with Iraggi alts vicariously through Hoss. Hoss had SO many problems with those alts it wasn't funny. Especially considering you had to remove one of the front wheels in order to get to his alt. It was a chore changing them out.

Yeah exactly and the more I read about Iraggi, the more I started to think about avoiding him.

Anyways I just received an answer from Mechman:

I see why it has been so hard for you to find one now. That is a very strange front cover arrangement, and would require us to build an adapter bracket for an all together different alternator to go in it’s place. We can do this, but we would need exact measurements of the mounting ears on the alternator, hole sizes, distance between the holes, etc… Adapter brackets add an additional $99 to the price.

Another option that might work better for you, would be for us to build up a “universal” 250 amp alternator designed for a dual alternator setup. We make them very compact (only 6” from the front of the pulley to the rear of the cover) so that they are easier to fit to cramped engine compartments. We also build them using a very simple regulator that only requires a single wire to turn the alternator on and off. (very easy to wire in without touching any of the existing wiring) This unit would only be $399, and you could just find someone locally to make a bracket to mount it on the engine.
So my best bet would be, like the man said, to use a dual alternator setup. Anything I should take in consideration? Or will this be safe?

IT's always the best idea to use a separate supply for the stereo. I like it if it's in your budget.

What vehicle? Was it an early 90's W-body with the 3.4?

You must not have shit for tools huh?

OT: How did you like the Duratec? I loved the Vulcan and it's reliability, but never dealt with the tec.

Arghhhhhh...

I give up. Now with the solution provided by Mechman, I contacted about 6 or 7 companies in the Netherlands if they could build me a bracket for a 2nd alternator and install it as well. All responded in the same manner; or they answered that they were not interested or said it was impossible to do... FFS.

Well I give up. I wasted enough of my time (and yours probably as well).

Seems Holland is a crappy country for powerful car audio applications. Bah...

I am trying one last thing; I contacted my Lexus dealer for a new (or even better secondhand) Lexus IS 220d alternator. If that proves affordable (which I seriously doubt) I will send that one to USA for rewinding or build a custom alternator of it.

But like I said; I seriously doubt it will be affordable...

Ah, so Ford got into that business as well. I had a 91 olds cutlass supreme with the 3.4 and it was listed as a 3 hour job in the mechanic's book. It also had to have a front wheel removed.

It's nice to now have an SUV with the Alt perched right on top.

Sorry about your bad luck Hawk. But I'm confused about the alt that Mechman suggested. To me it sounds like they just want to give you ONE alternator, not two for a dual setup? Maybe I'm mistaken though, I'm not familiar with their setups. But it's hard to believe that nobody wants to make you a bracket. It's just machining a piece of metal! Why do they refuse, that's crazy. Lazy bums.

In short? Dutch companies suck.
I called two more today, but they answered that they couldn't (probably not willing to).

Anyways, doesn't matter anymore. I have given up on the idea getting a more powerful alternator or a 2nd alternator. It's just not going to happen.

No response from Lexus on a new alternator that you could send off to get re-wound? I'm not sure which Toyota has the same alt over there, but it might be worth a shot. However, with everything you've done I'm sure you've looked into that already.
