What does this mean???
if thats any help. and here Sundown Amplifier FAQ - SSA Forums: Im not 100% sure on if your wiring is correct, I do know that the internal wiring in the amps is in parallel so you wire the subs in series for the 2 ohm load, but im interested to know the correct answer as I will need this in 4-6 weeks. |

No, that is not correct.
In that diagram you have jumped one coil and are just connecting one voice coil of each subwoofer to the amplifier. That will send ~600 watts to just one coil and leave the other coil doing "nothing" (there's a paper on RDO in our technical web page that explains what you can do when you "short out" or put a resistor across a dead voice coil). I swear I just posted the link to our DVC subwoofer wiring in another thread yesterday...Click me for the wiring diagram document. That document shows you how to properly wire up DVC subwoofers for different Ohm loads (parallel, series, and series paralllel). Each single Mag can have a 1 Ohm or 4 Ohm load. If your wiring each sub up to a single 1000D, you'll parallel the voice coils on each Mag to give you the 1 Ohm load the SAE-1000D requires.

So we would wire the subs exaclty like the 3rd picture? That gives a total of 1 ohm per sub for 2 ohm load. Which with the 1000d's strapped that would give us 900x2, correct?
This diagram might be easier to read. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/wo...s.asp~Q~2~I~22 In this diagram it is the 2 ohm load picture correct, this would give us a total load of 2 ohms, at 1 ohm per sub? Last edited by Black Truck 10; 07-31-2008 at 10:54 AM. |

Nope, the first picture is parallel, which would be a 1 Ohm load for the Mag. The second picture is series wiring on a single driver, which would be a 4 Ohm load for the Mag. The fourth picture (page 3) is series parallel for two drivers, which would give you the 2 Ohm load you're looking for out of a pair of Mag's and two strapped 1000D's. However, if you're running a single Mag off a single 1000D (either with a single 1000D and a single Mag, or twin un-strapped 1000D's with their own Mag), you will want to parallel (picture 1) each Mag and pair it up with your single 1000D.

hey guys! i think i now understand how to wire them! go to wiring option 2!
http://rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wo...2&woofer_imp=3 but since i am going to have 2 to amps straped pushing like 900 rms to each sub! this is what my diagram will be and this is how i will wire them! provide i get the okay from either nick or jacob! http://stereointegrity.com/forums/at...1&d=1217976900 thanks Ken |

You'll need to get the OK from Jacob on that wiring, but to me it looks good. I'm guessing that strapping the amplifiers you need one lead from each amp going to one speaker and the other lead going to the other speaker. Like I said, check with Jacob.

mine as well post it here, when strapping the 1000d's:
My alpine has 2 sub outs, on the head unit, How do I strap them to the amps? I looked at sundowns faq about strapping and I got a bit confused because in their picture of strapped for the rca's there are 3 in one amp and 1 in the other but what how do I do these with my 2 sub outs from my head unit? I dont have my amps yet so thats why im asking because I cant read what the imputs are. |

um you have two sub outs on your deck? interestesting! the way the rca work on the two amps is from your deck to the main 1000d and 1 rca from the mian 1000d amp to the second 1000d amp. and yes when you get your it is clearly marked how to do it! you will see jsut get them and look at the diagram and you will understand!
i know it is a little compliacated to understand with one to look at! so just wait and you will see! |
