This might be weird, but since im a fan of show, What about installed a device to measure the temperatures of each amp and then having a a fan attached to each amp. When the amp looks like it is getting hot I could flip a switch and turn the fan on, since I dont really want to leave the fans on all the time because of unwanted noise.. This would display on like a basic digital gauge. Anyone know what I would need for something like this? Then again here comes the money issue im struggling with

Could be fun. . .

With road noise, I don't think you have anything to worry about when it comes to fan noise. ...unless you drive a new Buick, VW Phaeton, or TSX, I think road noise will kill any fan noise.

Haha, well a while ago when I had my XX Hifonics amps they both had fans inside them. I KNEW I was going to hear them when I got the amplifiers. However, after I fired them up I noticed that I had to have the car off and have the stereo turned down BIG TIME / damn near off to hear the fans. And even then, I had to be listening for them.

Yeah I live in Seattle and I have been hitting thermal protect occasionally with my SAE-1000D when it hits the high 80s-90s.

Dang you guys lol. Just when I thought my amp rack was all finished up and ready to go into the truck I gotta read all this talk about fans. Well guess I need to put in another order and put even more stuff on the amp rack now lol.

I know the heat sink is going to do the majority of the cooling, but would the amp benefit from removing the bottom cover and aiming a fan towards the inside? or maybe machining a grill into the bottom cover and mounting a fan inside? I can't really get a fan to blow around the heat sink but I can pretty easily get something along the bottom of the amp. OH, and the amps are a Sax100.4 and a Saz1500D

Here is a pick of my amp rack, the fan in the middle is for cooling the computer that is mounted in there, and this is all going behind the seat of my truck so probably not too much air flow.

Oh and to the OP if you haven't picked up your amps yet I would vote to go and get em. Will be nice to get all your stuff installed and just wait to drop the subs in and go. Plus will give you some extra time to deal with detours and install issues you might skip over if you were rushed to install everything to hear it play right away.

Thanks man

Its an exhaust fan, only one in there so far, I have 2 pretty large holes just above the motherboard along the back wall to try and allow some air to get into the thing. Maybe I will see about getting another fan for an intake to get some more air flowing through the area.
