Default New HO Alternator vs 2nd Battery

Surprise Surprise im confused about this to.

My trucks alternator currently is 130 amp stock alternator.

With 2 1000d's and possibly a 100.4, other than big 3 upgrade, it looks like I will need to do some more work on electrical.

If I get another battery say a deka or Kinetik 2400, is this going to be enough, or will I need to do a a 250 amp alternator. I didnt know if 2nd batteries required higher alternators, if that was like a pair deal or if I could just add a battery and call it a day?

Input and advice is desperately needed. I know best is to do both, but if I can keep cost down then I would prefer that route.

Extra batteries are my first priority. I do the alt after I install a second battery. I'm not sure about the current draw you're going to have though, so maybe Jake can come in here and clear things up.

Ok good, If I can save 300 from alternator expenses then I will put that in Auto Insulation.

I said the HC-1400's just because on Kinetiks website it said for those 2. I want to keep my options open just in case I add a carputer to all of this. i originally decided on the HC-2400 though. I might switch back. I always get real nervous before I drop 2 grand on anything so who knows. I actually started a group buy over at f150online for everyone who needs a H. O. Alternator and were gathering names and information now. Ill see what that final price looks like.

Also right back at ya, why are you going with the 100.4? Im in between that and the 100.2. Im still planning how im doing everything, but my front components are Alpine SPR-17s, and my rears are some Infinity Kappa 5x7's.

The Kappa's are 2 ohm though and the Alpines are 4 ohm.

If your crunching money, don't hesitate to buy the 100.2 instead of the 100.4. The 100.2 is a very solid amplifier. I almost put "very solid little amp" but there's nothing little about it. It's a substantial size and it puts out a LOT of power. I sold my Hifonics XX amplifier (the one that did 250 x 4) to switch over to a 100.2 years ago. Now I know what you must be thinking "that's nuts" or "Nick, you're full of shit" but I'm dead nuts serious. It wasn't the fact that the 100.2 put out more power. That's not it at all. It's how it sounded. The midbass was much punchier, much more authoritative, and the top end was much smoother. It was really amazing how much of a difference that amplifier made.

I now run a 100.4 bridged and it's totally overkill. I like the headroom that it offers me but the gains are turned way down (read: I know it's not a volume knob and I know how to set gains...just trying to prove my point that I'm not using near it's potential).

Long story short - if you're wondering where you can squeeze a few penny's, buy the 100.2 instead of the 100.4.

actualy i was just going to go with a 100.4 only b/c i wanted to run a component set, and AND my rear 6x9's, other then that no need to have 2 100.2 in my car rather jsut save some space and put a 100.4 in to be honest.

i guess also b/c 1 100.4 is cheaper then 2 100.2 ? lol. o well keep us posted.

Components and 6x9's?! Whatever floats your boat! I'm too much of a SQeer to even worry about rear fill. That, and the extra money you would have spent on 6x9's/rears could be used to upgrade your components.
