Default Compent sets! what do you use?

hey guys i am looking into getting a compent set for my car, i was looking to use a sundown 100.4 and getting rid of my orion 400.2. and use the 100.4 to power my 6x9, and my new compent speakers,

i have heard the best compent around are DLS Iridium sets but those run for up wards of 600 and i was wondering what ppl to consider to be an equal and or doesn't cost 600 plus.

so i guess i am looking for an alternative compent set which everyone else uses! so jsut let me know what everyone else use jsut sound off and we will go from there!!!

Well...I use Focal Polyglass components. I like them. I don't think they compare to Iridiums (not that iridiums are the "best around") but they do cost less. Some people don't like Focals, they are bright and will need some eq work to sound the way I want them.

There are many many different component sets out there, all of which have positive and negative attributes. Before you even think about budgeting out components and 6x9's you should invest in some proper door treatments. Dynamat, Raamat, Edead etc. Plus a solid baffle. This will make any speaker sound better.

After that see how much more you're willing to spend, how important buying from an authorized dealer is, and go from there. A big part of buying components (for me) comes down to what I want to spend and what is on sale/can find a good deal on. Decide what "type" of sound you're looking for, and listen to some sets.

*MB Quart PVF 216 (if you're on a budget) there is a german magazine that has a review of those comps. Those ranked amongs the best (reference class) such as Focal Utopia Be 6 & 7, Brax Matrix, Rainbow Reference 260.30, Alpine F#1 status SPX-Z 18T.
*Hybrid Audio Technology is another brand to look at, they seem to win quite a lot of SQ competition lately.
* On that same magazine (Autohifi), the Focal Utopia Be 7 has ranked #1. Therefore if you have money...

Personally I have never liked any MB Quart components. The upper end is just way too harsh on them. And it's noteworthy to take magazine reviews with a grain of salt. He who pays the bills gets really good reviews.
