Besides, QC, the OP was asking about SQ in his car - not just SPL.
Being a convertible driver myself, I can understand exactly what he's asking. And why. Easiest way to deal with the top up/down issue is just to set the sub to a high gain and use the HU to tune it down when the top is up and turn the bass up when the top is down...
