I wasn't aware that it mattered on the mounting, but I do agree with your color choices. I've always liked a sleek black finish.

By the way, I don't think that's what top mounting means. I think you're referring to inverted mounting. I'm pretty sure top mounting is when you have the sub lip resting on the box wall rather than something like flush mounting, where you dig a groove into the wood and make the driver sit flush with the wall, or bottom mounting, where you actually have the driver sitting behind the wall face.

Practically all subs are top or flush mounted because usually the sub boxes are sealed pretty tightly so you wouldn't be able to easily swap or remove a sub if it was bottom mounted. You'll see bottom mounts in rear speaker decks mainly. I think what you're thinking of is an inverted sub, and again I'm not sure that that matters here.
