one quick note to the OP, how would your tires ground your car? rubber is an insulator, the tires are actually what save you in case your car gets hit by lightning or an electrical line falls on the car
also, the next time you see an ambulance, take a close look at its rear diff
. ambulances use chains that drag the roads to ground out any unwanted electrical charge hiding in the vehicle. it can protect the electronics in there. i have never seen a passenger vehicle using these, but i can imagine they are used mostly by the most anal of audiophiles, and the owners of nissan muranos apparently
